A basic show for the novice drumline that still wants to compete. Taking place in a school setting, Lessons In Rhythm utilizes the four basic 16th note permutations as the basis for the music. The four-movement show involves different musical stylings, such as neo-classical (drumline style), funk, and music-box pop. Designed to help the drumline enhance their musicality while applying the different techniques, rhythms, and rudiments they have learned thus far. This show is a fun way to give the novice group experience in the indoor percussion arena.
The original front ensemble score was designed to be performed by 4 players at 4 stations with a 5th, “floating” station. This piece is excellent for a very small percussion ensemble.
Originally commissioned by the Orestimba High School drumline of 2007/08 in Newman, CA under the direction of Jay Mason.
